Honeyd possible only because of important abstractions provided by libraries:
libevent and Dug Song's libdnet.

Small Implementation:
Less than 5 KLC.
Mostly due to libraries.

Fairly portable:
Compiles and runs on *BSD, Solaris and Linux.
